McKayla was born December 9, 1995 in Aliso Viejo, California into Irish-Catholic family. Both of her parents are also sportspeople. Maroney started professional training at age of nine. Her junior career stated in 2009. McKayla won many golden medals on both, Olympic Games and World Championships.
